NORIHIKO INOUE (b. Fukuoka, Japan) is an industrial designer based in London, UK with over 15 years of experience in the design industry. He combines European creative training and professional experience with a Japanese sensibility. He designs products by balancing function, aesthetics, and manufacturing.
He currently works across two professional streams, as Creative Lead at a London-based design consultancy, while also running his own design studio.
His expertise spans a wide range of product development, including furniture, lighting, homeware, and consumer electronics. He has a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and is skilled in crafting products that embody character through functionality. He pushes boundaries by collaborating closely with engineers to develop solutions that are both feasible and innovative.
He has received a number of awards, including Red-dot and IDSA/IDEA awards. Prior to his role at the design consultancy in London, he joined ChauhanStudio after the graduation in 2008. He trained as a product designer at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, graduating with 1st class honours. During his third year of undergraduate studies, he worked as a Design Intern at Shin Azumi / a studio in London, where he contributed to the development of furniture for Scandinavian and Italian brands.
